RETOX (US / Epitaph, Three One G, Ipecac)

retox

Justin Pearson’s (also known from Bands like The Locust and Swing Kids) recent outfit RETOX is a modern appearance of the serious end of the so called punk spirit. Cold, harsh, condensed, linearity to the point. Their recent album YPLL came out on Epitaph records a home to the who’s who of hardcore affiliated bands. The band has recently released a documentary under the name of the album in which they manifest an unglorified look upon their work and impact as a band in this day an age.

Retox formed in Southern California in 2010 and released their debut album, Ugly Animals by Retox, via Ipecac in 2011. Their new album is titled YPLL by Retox and was released by the Epitaph recording company, May 2013.

ZEUS! (IT / Three One G)

zeus!

ZEUS! aims at using the minimum in order to get the maximum and is: not metal, not punk, not math, not noise, not prog, absolutely not jazz-core, neither post-whatever. In case, a sum of micro compositions of these times, picassian and psychodelic, insofar as the peculiar melodies “liberate thought from social conventions superstructures”. The band was released thru Justin Pearson’s own label Three One G.

BATALJ (DE / Et Mon Cul C’est Du Tofu?)

batalj

BATALJ is a Berlin-based experimental noise/trash/mayhem outfit whose members originate from Sweden and Australia. With distorted analog synthesizers accompanied by frantic drum assaults, effect-drenched guitar arrangements and shrieking vocals the three-piece concocts a barely comprehensible soundscape of deformed rythms, riffs, blasts, bleeps and more or less controlled chaos. Taking their cues from diverse musical damaged goods hailing from hardcore punk all the way through to harsh experimental noise BATALJ creates a truly furious and highly inventive sonic assault. The past two years the band has extensively toured Europe and realeased two 7-inch splits, as well as participated on various compilations. A self-titled debut EP is now out on 7 inch vinyl on Et Mon Cul C’est Du Tofu? and Twintoe Records.
